Riding in Honor of America's Heroes

Who We Are

The Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) is a diverse amalgamation of riders from across the nation. We are probably the largest motorcycle organization in the world with over 300,000 members, and yet, we are not a motorcycle club, nor even a motorcycle organization.  We don’t care what you ride, what your political views are, or whether you’re a hawk or a dove.

It is not a requirement that you be a veteran. It doesn't matter where you’re from or what your income is; you don’t even have to ride a motorcycle. The only prerequisites are have a loving heart and respect.

Patriot Guard activities are composed of Missions and Rides.  Our main mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family.   Each mission we undertake has two basic objectives:

  1. Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities.
  2. Shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protestor or group of protestors.  We accomplish the latter through strictly legal and non-violent means.

On some of our Missions, we accompany the Hero and his or her family for miles, with flags flying on the motorcycles.  Here in Southern California, we are averaging 40-50 Missions and Rides a month.

The Patriot Guard Riders is composed of American Legionnaires, Veterans of Foreign Wars,  Veterans, Active Duty, Civilians and anyone with a good heart.  We call the activities we do “Missions” or Rides, and we conduct ourselves with the respect that should be shown to those who have or will go into harm’s way.  Outside of the Patriot Guard Primary Missions, we also participate in Rides such as: Welcome Homes, Departures, “Veteran’s Without Families” where we are the family for the fallen heroes.  Additionally, we participate in Patriotic Rides, like Parades, Charities, Wounded Warrior Projects, Wreaths Across America, Civic projects and helping our Heroes and their Families.

Each Patriot Guard Rider, pays for their motorcycle, vehicle, fuel & oil, maintenance, food, and shelter out of each riders individual pocket.   We do not charge dues, nor are the riders required attend.  Each mission is attended by those that can attend, they are off work, giving up vacation, evening or weekend hours and if you ask them, they will tell you; “It’s an honor to be here.”  We do not seek publicity, fame, or glory.  The Patriot Guard is not about us….it is about you.

We have one thing in common besides motorcycles. We have an unwavering respect for those who risk their very lives for America’s freedom and security. If you share this respect, please join us. To those of you who are currently serving and fighting for the freedoms of others, at home and abroad, please know that we are backing you. We honor and support you with every mission we carry out, and we are praying for your safe return
